Filing a DMCA takedown

Image Depot supports real copyright takedown notices under the DMCA -- here's what that process actually looks like from your side.

If one of your photos is removed

When someone files a valid takedown notice against a specific photo in one of your galleries, that photo is removed and you're notified. You can see every notice filed against your galleries -- its status, and the photo involved -- under Dashboard › DMCA.

If you believe a removal was a mistake (for example, it's genuinely your own photo), you have 24 hours from removal to file a counter-notice directly from that page. After 24 hours, the in-app counter-notice option is no longer available and you'll need to contact support directly -- this 24-hour window is Image Depot's own fast-path deadline, not a statement about your broader legal rights.

Filing a counter-notice

A real, legal counter-notice under DMCA 512(g) -- you'll provide your full name, mailing address, phone number, a good-faith statement, consent to jurisdiction, and a typed signature. Once filed, the photo is restored unless the original complainant notifies us that they've filed a court action within the statutory waiting period -- restoration isn't instant, but pending on that window closing.

Repeated valid takedowns against the same studio are tracked internally -- this doesn't automatically suspend your account, but does trigger a direct review.

Think someone else is using your photos without permission? That's a different tool -- see Image Watch: checking for stolen or copied photos.
