What is photo proofing software?
Proofing is the step between "here's the full shoot" and "here's what the client actually wants" -- software that lets a client review, favorite, and select from a real gallery before anything is finalized.
Traditionally this meant printing contact sheets or emailing low-res previews and waiting for a reply. Real proofing software puts the whole shoot online instead: the client browses, favorites what they like, and either confirms a selection or goes straight into ordering prints and downloads from the same gallery.
What it should actually do
- Show the real shoot -- not a curated subset, the client picks from everything.
- Let clients favorite without an account -- a password or a required email, not a full sign-up.
- Protect the work while it's being reviewed -- watermarks or preview protection until something is actually purchased or approved.
- Connect straight to ordering -- favoriting and buying should be the same real workflow, not two separate tools.
