SmugMug alternatives
SmugMug's real strength is unlimited storage on every plan, including its entry tier. If that's what's keeping you there despite its commission structure, here's what's actually different.
| Image Depot | SmugMug | |
|---|---|---|
| Commission on sales | 0% on every paid plan; 3% on Free | A percentage of your markup on every sale -- and selling only starts on its Portfolio plan |
| Storage | A real per-plan quota, plus a $5/mo flat archive option instead of forced deletion | Unlimited on every plan -- a genuine SmugMug strength |
| Export of every original photo | Available on every plan, including Free | Not stated on its public pages at last review |
Credit where it's due -- unlimited storage at any price point is real and worth wanting. If keeping 100% of what you charge matters more, that's the real gap here.
