Sending contracts and print releases

Found under Contracts in your sidebar -- real, legally-binding e-signature contracts, not a PDF you email around yourself.

Building a template

  1. Go to Contracts › TemplatesCreate a new template with a name (for your own reference), a title (what the client sees), and your contract text.
  2. Not sure where to start?Use "Start from a generic Print Release" to pre-fill a basic template covering personal, non-commercial use with no copyright transfer. This is a starting point, not legal advice -- have a lawyer review anything you plan to actually rely on.
  3. Mark one template as your Print Release, if you want automatic sendingSee below -- only one template can be marked this way at a time.

Sending a contract

From Contracts › New, pick a template (optional -- pre-fills the text) and a gallery (optional), then enter your client's name and email. Your client receives a real e-signature request; you can track its status on the contract's own page as it moves from Sent to Viewed to Completed (or Declined). Once completed, a countersigned PDF is available for you to download.

Editing or deleting a template later never changes contracts you've already sent from it -- each sent contract keeps its own frozen copy of the text at the time it was sent, since that's what actually matters legally, not whatever the template says today.

Automatic print releases

If you've marked one template as your Print Release, it's sent to the client automatically the moment an order containing a digital download is confirmed paid -- you don't have to remember to send it yourself. This only fires once per order, even if something briefly hiccups on our end.
